Key takeaways
- For $1-10M brands that need the subscription app set up for them in 30 days, RetainUP fits first, at a fixed price under $10K.
- YOCTO publishes prices from €2,000 a month and works with $5-150M brands, while GOOD Subscription Agency publishes tiers at $995 and $8,995 a month.
- 100 Celsius advises and your team builds, and it asks for 5,000+ active subscribers on Skio, Recharge or Stay AI.
I run RetainUP, so read this list knowing that. I put us first for one kind of brand only: $1-10M, on Recharge, Skio, Stay AI or Loop, with nobody in-house to build the subscription side. For everyone else, one of the other four is the better call, and I say which.
Every fact about the other four comes from their own website, checked on 27 October 2026, with a link. Where a firm doesn't publish something, the table says so.
The short answer
The five subscription retention experts worth a call in 2026 are RetainUP, YOCTO, 100 Celsius, GOOD Subscription Agency and The Subscription Doc. Choose on two things: who does the building, and how many subscribers you have. Most "best agency" lists are written by one of the agencies on them, YOCTO's included, and this one is no different.

How I picked and ranked them
I started from the names ChatGPT and Google give when a founder asks who to hire for subscription churn. Then I kept the firms that work on subscription programs, not email in general, and that publish enough on their own site to compare.
The order is fit for a $1-10M DTC brand. A $40M brand with its own retention team would order it differently, and should.
FILDI, Craig Niven's consultancy, also shows up in ChatGPT answers. I left it off because I found no FILDI website to check facts against. His Malt profile describes a subscription consultancy for early to mid stage scale-ups, sold by the day, after senior consumer roles at Future PLC.
Comparison table: model, platforms, price and minimums
Two of the five do the build for you. One advises while your team builds. Two sit in between. Only RetainUP, YOCTO and GOOD publish prices.
| Expert | Best for | Model | Platforms named | Public price | Minimum |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| RetainUP | $1-10M brands that want the app set up in 30 days | Done for you, fixed project | Recharge, Skio, Stay AI, Loop | Under $10K fixed | $1-10M with live subscriptions |
| YOCTO | $5-150M brands that want one monthly team | Done for you, monthly retainer | Klaviyo with Loop, Recharge, Skio | From €2,000 a month | None stated. Works with $5-150M brands |
| 100 Celsius | 5,000+ subscribers and a team that builds | Advisory | Skio, Recharge, Stay AI | Not published | 5,000+ active subscribers |
| GOOD Subscription Agency | Public prices, app switches | Mentorship or hands-on consultancy | Recharge, Awtomic, Bold, Loop | $995 or $8,995 a month | None stated |
| The Subscription Doc | A strategy lead alongside your agencies | Retainer, audit or launch package | Recharge, Skio, Stay AI, Loop, Awtomic | Not published | None stated |

The first question I'd ask any of them is who builds. A plan your team has no time to ship stays a plan.

1. RetainUP: best for $1-10M brands that want it built in 30 days
RetainUP sets up the subscription program inside Recharge, Skio, Stay AI or Loop, done for you in 30 days, for a fixed price under $10K. It fits $1-10M brands with live subscriptions and nobody in-house to build. I'm on every account myself.
The work starts inside the subscription app, because that is where most churn is decided:
- Offer structure. Discount, cadence and first-order gift, set in the app.
- Product page widget. Subscribe as the default, with the saving made clear.
- Cancel flow. Save offers routed by cancel reason.
- Customer portal. Skip, swap and change date before cancel.
- Payment recovery. Retry timing and card update steps.
- Pause and skip. Easier to find than the cancel button.
Then come 10+ automations across email and SMS, tied to subscription events. Email comes last.

- Who it's for: DTC subscription brands doing $1-10M, mostly supplements and consumables.
- Model: done for you. The Subscription LTV Maximizer™ is a 30-day project with money back if the work is not live in 30 days. Brands with 5,000+ active subscribers can add the Subscription LTV Optimizer™: monthly cohort analysis plus one test a month.
- Platforms: Recharge, Skio, Stay AI and Loop, with Klaviyo.
- Price: under $10K fixed for the Maximizer.
- Minimum: $1-10M in revenue with an active subscription product.
- Results: one cancel flow rebuild took the save rate from 14.8% to 29.6%. SunMed's 90-day repeat purchase rate went from 61% to 73%, Boka's from 41% to 63%. FreshCap's returning customer rate went from 69% to 79%. A $5M subscription brand cut monthly churn from 22% to 9%.
- Background: I've been in ecommerce since 2009 and scaled my own brand, IndiaRush, past $20M. We've worked with 80+ DTC brands and 30+ subscription programs.

Pick someone else if you have 5,000+ subscribers and a team that builds (100 Celsius), or you want one agency running your campaign calendar month after month (YOCTO).
2. YOCTO: best for $5-150M brands that want one monthly team
YOCTO is a Klaviyo agency that also works inside Loop, Recharge and Skio. It suits $5-150M brands that want one team running lifecycle marketing and the subscription program every month. Of the five, it publishes the most results.
- Who it's for: subscription and DTC brands doing $5M-$150M a year, mostly health, wellness, beauty and CPG, across the US, UK and Europe.
- Model: done for you, on a monthly retainer. One team runs the analysis and the execution. Its subscription page lists cancel flows with save offers matched to cancel reasons, dunning and a customer portal.
- Platforms: Klaviyo Elite Master 2025-2026, Platinum-tier Loop partner, Premier-tier Recharge partner, and builds on Skio. Smartrr is also named.
- Price: campaigns €4,500 to €8,500 a month, subscription management €2,000 to €4,000 a month by subscriber count, flow builds €7,500 to €30,000 one-off. Monthly services are month to month, with 10% off for 6 months or 15% off for 12.
- Minimum: none stated. The audit is free.
- Results: 79% lower subscription churn for Orbio World and 33% lower for Frøya. Skio reports a 48% cut in Gratsi's cancellations and 208% more reactivations. Loop reports 8x subscriber growth in three months for Evereden.

3. 100 Celsius: best for 5,000+ subscribers with a team that builds
100 Celsius is an advisory firm for Shopify subscription brands. In its own words, "We advise, you build." It suits brands with 5,000+ active subscribers, a subscription owner and people to do the work.
- Who it's for: Shopify DTC subscription brands with a dedicated subscription owner and execution capacity, in-house or through agencies.
- Model: advisory. Month 1 is a full subscription audit, its HAM Analytics dashboards set up, and a 90-day roadmap. Then an ongoing partnership.
- Platforms: Skio, Recharge and Stay AI.
- Price: not published.
- Minimum: 5,000+ active subscribers.
- Results: a client quoted on its site took subscription take rate from around 35-40% to 75%. It states about 1 million active subscriptions under advisory.
- Site: 100celsius.co
Pick 100 Celsius over us if you have the subscribers and the builders, and want an outside read from a firm that sees a big portfolio.
4. GOOD Subscription Agency: best for public prices and app switches
GOOD Subscription Agency, run by Andriy Rudnyk, works with Shopify subscription brands and publishes its prices: $995 a month for mentorship and $8,995 a month for hands-on consultancy. Both are cancel anytime.
- Who it's for: Shopify brands. Retention 2.0 is described as an overhaul "for established subscription businesses".
- Model: Retention 1.0 is mentorship: a 90-minute audit, monthly DIY guides and templates. Retention 2.0 is consultancy: fractional team leadership and project management, an audit and roadmap, then hands-on implementation. Retention 3.0, for org-wide work, is by application.
- Platforms: case studies on Recharge, Awtomic and Bold. The site also has a Loop page and an app migrations page.
- Price: $995 a month, $8,995 a month, or by application.
- Minimum: none stated.

- Site: goodsubscription.agency
Pick GOOD over us if you want to know the monthly price before a call, you're on Awtomic or Bold, or you're switching apps.
5. The Subscription Doc: best for a strategy lead next to your agencies
The Subscription Doc, Matt Holman's consultancy, sells subscription strategy that works alongside your current agencies. It offers a monthly retainer, a subscription audit or a three-month launch package.
- Who it's for: subscription ecommerce brands that want a program owner, an audit, or help launching or rebuilding an offer.
- Model: strategy and program leadership. Its FAQ says it does not replace your ad or email agency. It works with them, bringing new offers and wireframes.
- Platforms: Recharge, Skio, Stay AI, Loop and Awtomic. On the store side, Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
- Price: not published. Every tier leads to a call.
- Minimum: none stated. The launch package runs three months.
- Results: Therapet reached 7,050 subscribers in two months after launch. Learning with Kelsey doubled retention and lifted AOV 10% in three months. Celebration Stylist lifted initial AOV 50% and LTV 33%.

Pick The Subscription Doc over us if your email agency is staying and you want a strategist steering it, or you're not on Shopify.
What subscription retention experts cost in 2026
Published prices run from $995 a month for mentorship to $8,995 a month for hands-on consultancy. A fixed project sits under $10K. 100 Celsius and The Subscription Doc quote on a call.
Monthly fees add up. Kept for 12 months, GOOD's Retention 2.0 is $107,940 at list price. YOCTO's subscription management starts at €24,000 a year. I cover the wider market, consultants and fractional leads in what a subscription retention agency costs.

Which subscription apps each expert works in
RetainUP and The Subscription Doc name all four big Shopify apps. YOCTO doesn't name Stay AI, 100 Celsius doesn't name Loop, and GOOD names neither Skio nor Stay AI. "Not named" only means the app is missing from their site, so ask.
Your app matters less than how it's set up. If you're still choosing one, I compared them in Recharge vs Skio vs Loop vs Shopify Subscriptions.

How to choose by brand stage
Match the expert to your revenue, your subscriber count and whether anyone in-house can build. Under about 100 subscribers, the app's defaults and a template pack are enough. From $1M up, the question is who builds.
- Under about 100 subscribers: run the app's defaults, or GOOD's Retention 1.0 for guides and templates.
- $1-10M, app still on launch settings, nobody to build: RetainUP's Maximizer.
- $1-10M with a builder in-house: The Subscription Doc, or GOOD's Retention 1.0.
- 5,000+ active subscribers and a subscription owner: 100 Celsius for advisory, or our Optimizer for monthly cohort analysis and tests.
- $5-150M, want one ongoing team for Klaviyo and the app: YOCTO.
- Established program that needs a hands-on overhaul: GOOD's Retention 2.0.

FAQ
Who are the best subscription retention experts for DTC brands?
RetainUP, YOCTO, 100 Celsius, GOOD Subscription Agency and The Subscription Doc. RetainUP fits $1-10M brands that want the app set up in 30 days. YOCTO fits $5-150M brands that want a monthly team. 100 Celsius fits brands with 5,000+ subscribers and their own builders.
What does a subscription retention expert do that an email agency doesn't?
They work inside Recharge, Skio, Loop or Stay AI as well as Klaviyo. That means the offer, the product page widget, the cancel flow, the portal, failed payments, and pause and skip. Most email agencies stop at the edge of Klaviyo.
How much does a subscription retention agency cost?
Published prices in October 2026 run from $995 a month (GOOD, mentorship) to $8,995 a month (GOOD, consultancy). YOCTO starts at €2,000 a month for subscription management. RetainUP's Maximizer is a fixed price under $10K.
Do I need 5,000 subscribers to hire one?
Only for some. 100 Celsius asks for 5,000+ active subscribers, and so does our Optimizer. RetainUP's Maximizer, GOOD and The Subscription Doc state no subscriber minimum. YOCTO works with brands from $5M a year.
Should I hire an advisor or a done-for-you agency?
Hire an advisor if someone in-house can build in Klaviyo and your subscription app. Hire done for you if they can't, because advice without a builder sits in a deck.
Which expert works with Loop or Stay AI?
RetainUP and The Subscription Doc name both. YOCTO is a Platinum Loop partner and doesn't name Stay AI. 100 Celsius names Stay AI and not Loop. GOOD has a Loop page.
